Thomas became a ward of the Earl of Worcester in 1421, following his father's death.

It was probably in 1138 that he received the second title of Earl of Worcester.

He had married for a second time by 1511, and was made Earl of Worcester in 1514.

Hotspur's uncle, the Earl of Worcester, held a similar appointment in the south.

On 26 November 1549, he succeeded his father and became the 3rd Earl of Worcester.

The Earl of Worcester was executed two days later.

On 1 February 1514, he was created the 1st Earl of Worcester.

On 3 March 1628, he succeeded his father and became the 5th Earl of Worcester.

His younger son Thomas became the 1st Earl of Worcester.

The county was named for an Earl of Worcester.
