"Morgan let me in," said the newcomer from the dark.
It was very good country, according to what the newcomer said.
"That's what I need, someone to listen to me," said the newcomer.
Many white newcomers say they are sensitive to the issues of gentrification.
The newcomers said they did play a role in the city's life.
"The more things change, the more they stay the same," say the newcomers.
"You're looking good," the newcomer said, standing back a little.
Among blacks, though, 7,300 newcomers said they received public assistance, compared with 10,600 who had left the city.
Once arrived, many newcomers say work is their main worry.
"I knew it had to be either you or your husband," the newcomer said.
