In 1666 the Forest was sold to the Earl of Aboyne.

In 1751 the manor was sold to the fourth Earl of Carlisle, whose family hold the title to this day.

In 1928, the estate was eventually sold back to the 12th Earl of Dundonald for £78,000.

Hippisley sold the house to the Earl of Mountnorris in the early 19th century.

The building was sold to the 15th Earl of Derby in 1889.

The manor was sold by crown charter in 1682 to the Earl of Plymouth.

In the 17th century it was sold to the Earl of Haddington.

After the defeat he was sold to the 1st Earl of Farnham.

In 1754 Long sold it to the first Earl of Shelburne.

Swinburne sold the estate to the Earl of Carlisle for £4000 in 1748.
