His first win in England came at Exeter on 7 September 1994 riding the Gordon Edwards trained Chickabiddy to a length victory.

He rode his first winner in England in 1994 at Exeter on Chickabiddy, going on to ride 74 winners and take the conditional jockeys' title that season.

A double at Kempton on Monday courtesy of Captain Cutter and Foundation Man left McCoy on 3,998 victories, meaning that he could reach the milestone at the course where he registered his first British winner on 7 September 1994, on the Gordon Edwards-trained Chickabiddy.
