Nugae was the subject of an epigram of John Owen.

He returned to Heidelberg the same year and published a book of poetry entitled "The Nugae".

He wrote a collection of poems called Nugae (Latin for 'trifles'), which are known as the Bagatelles in French.

In 1707 he released an anti-Jesuit pamphlet titled "Nugae venales Rullenses", a publication that was publicly condemned and burned.

They, so far as I can trust my memory, were the first to reintroduce these pleasant old French nugae, while an anonymous author let loose upon the town a whole winged flock of ballades of amazing dexterity.
