In the months following the launch of NE1fm, regular programming included Alternation, Atomic, Pavement Pizza and The Hedley Show.

In 1994 Peter Pavement started selling zines from around the world as well as repackaging other small press comics, and his zine Pavement Pizza became Ground Level.

Its first title was Pavement's own Pavement Pizza, and it soon began selling British small press comics and zines on marts in Brighton and Hove, and importing books from the US, Australia and Europe.
