Solder pot metal - Cast iron or steel,electrically heated.

Solder pot heaters melt in an overload condition, which cause the motor control circuit to de-energize the motor.

Ultrasonic soldering can be done with either a specialized soldering iron or a specialized solder pot.

There is not much equipment or setup for this process, all that is needed is the solder pot with its temperature control panel, the bath of molten solder, and the work holding device.

The overload sensing devices are a form of heat operated relay where a coil heats a bimetallic strip, or where a solder pot melts, releasing a spring to operate auxiliary contacts.

Applications include the handling and use of Electrochemicals (cleaning solvents, conformal coatings etc) resins, sealants and adhesives both in aerosol and static form, solder pots and solder irons.

It may be desirable to use minor modification of the solder pots (e.g. titanium liners or impellers) used in wave-soldering, to reduce maintenance cost due to increased tin-scavenging of high-tin solder.

The acoustic energy created by the solder tip or ultrasonic solder pot works via cavitation of the molten solder which mechanically disrupts oxide layers on the solder layers themselves and on metal surfaces being joined.

The PCB may be fixed, and the wave solder pot moved underneath the PCB; alternately, the PCB may be articulated over a fixed wave or solder bath to undergo the selective-soldering process.
