The station was assigned to Aerospace Defense Command in 1957, and was given designation "N-27A".
The 190th operated the aircraft until 1978 when they were retired as part of the draw-down of Aerospace Defense Command.
It was then assigned to Aerospace Defense Command from 1 October 1976 to 30 November 1979.
In late 1950, construction began on the Charleston Air Force Station, part of the Aerospace Defense Command.
In 1960, the unit received the F-102As and was placed under the direct supervision of the Aerospace Defense Command.
The squadron remained active until 1979 when it was inactivated as part of the draw-down of Aerospace Defense Command.
The unit was originally part of Aerospace Defense Command's 26th Aerospace Division.
