After the novel was rejected by thirteen publishers, it was picked up by Alyson Books, and published in 1986.
The next year, his book The Q Guide to Broadway was published by Alyson Books.
This was followed in 2007 by the release of his novel Broadway Nights, also by Alyson Books.
It was due to be released in 2008 through Alyson Books, but many of Alyson's contracts were suspended as the publishing house sought a new buyer.
