As of yet only Apple supports mine.
By all means, Apple should recommend and support the use of filename extensions for interoperability.
It could also be used with some earlier System 6 versions, although Apple did not officially support this.

Apple doesn't officially support keyboard and mouse computing with ipad, so there is still a market to be addressed there.
I would buy that if Apple would finally support a decent amount of video codecs.
Maybe Apple shouldn't have supported 3G with the new update then?
But mainly, happy to see Apple support the folks that develop for their products.
