From 1968 to 1972 he was a Colonel and commander of the 631st Artillery Group.
It was again redesignated as the 108th Artillery Group (Air Defense).
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 10th Artillery Group on 10 November 1969.
Another three or four battalions from various units rounded out the force, supported by the 92nd Artillery Group.
Nuclear artillery was provided by two Artillery Groups.
It was redesignated for the 15th Artillery Group on 2 June 1966.
It was redesignated for the 13th Artillery Group on 20 November 1967.
It was redesignated as an Artillery Group on 1 October 1959.
It began as the 94th Artillery Group on 15 August 1969.
They were the first of three tactical nuclear battalions to fall under the 56th Field Artillery Group in command structure.
