Barron Field, just outside the city, stimulated the local economy and increased population growth.
Barron Field was located south of Everman Parkway and west of Oak Grove Road.

The 77th and later Squadron "A" provided personnel for base administrative activities and for various positions needed to maintain operations on Barron Field.
Barron Field was appointed as the replacement for Bent in May 1816.
He found this through his friendship with Barron Field, who was the theatre critic for The Times.
