Upon returning to the United States, she studied illustration under Howard Pyle, founder of the Brandywine School.

It was through the absorption of Pyle's particular style and teaching during these five years that the tradition and center known as the "Brandywine School" emerged.

Dunn was one of a small group of Pyle's defining students who were to revolutionize the illustration world and today are collectively known as the Brandywine School.

He started choreographing dance with the Brandywine School of Ballet in 1995.
