In 1986, a Chair of Irish Studies was set up in his honour at St. Mary's University, Halifax.

He is also currently the interim Chair of Judaic Studies there.

In 2001-2002, she was the Chair of Australian Studies at Harvard University.

The Chair of Classical Studies is Dr. Guy Chamberland.

In 1935, he was offered the Chair of Italian Studies at the University of Manchester.

Just lately in 2011 he became visiting lecturer at the University of Passau (Chair of European Studies).

In 1999 he held the year-long visiting Chair of Australian Studies at Harvard University.

Chair of Comic Studies?

When that program came to a close he moved on to the University of Lethbridge in 1977 where he eventually became Chair of Native American Studies (1999-2010).

He was the first musician to hold the Chair of Australian Studies at Harvard University (2000-2001).
