From 1949 to 1950, 17 middle and end cars were delivered for the Class 65 units.
Among the options under consideration was the purchase of further 22000 Class units.
It is planned that a pair of Class 450 units will take on this role.
In 1960, the services were replaced by Class 68 units.
In the event, the decision was taken to do this with the Class 155 units instead.
Class 158 units also make occasional appearances on the route.
The trains have now been identified as Class 379 units.
This plan was dropped in favour of building new Class 325 units.
All Class 310 units that survived into the 21st century were withdrawn between 2001 and 2002.
They were replaced by Class 357 units from 1999 to 2002.
