But many in Queens know 71st Avenue by its old name, Continental Avenue, and use the two names interchangeably.

Three of the women were accosted near the subway station at Continental Avenue and 71st Street.

There are six nail salons within a few blocks of hers, and at least 10 along Continental Avenue.

In the past, "Continental Avenue" (the alternative name of 71st Avenue) has been included in the name.

"It feels very commercial," said Joan Patchowsky, a local resident, about the experience of walking along Continental Avenue.

"Continental Avenue is a thriving, bustling, densely populated, relatively affluent area."

Not only is Continental Avenue home to many banks, but to add to the confusion, in this merger-happy industry their names often change.

And in Forest Hills, the lines of cars parked along Continental Avenue, near the subway stop, seemed no longer than normal.
