Delta Phi remains a small fraternity with fourteen active chapters and few chapters with more than several dozen members.

As a member of the Union triad, Delta Phi is the third oldest fraternity in the United States.

Owing mostly to its development in the early 19th century, Delta Phi organizes itself federally.

The local chapter of Delta Phi was founded at the university in 1885, being one of the first on campus.

Plans were made and both organizations planned to merge under the name, Delta Phi.

All started well, but due to an impeding lawsuit against Delta Phi, the merger was called off.

He was dissuaded from this by a member of Delta Phi named John Jay Hyde.

In 1845, Delta Phi became the first fraternity to organize on the campus.
