The delegates and Democratic staffers, exhausted from late sessions and later parties, are still snoozing.
The phones began ringing after the company's founder was quoted in Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper, saying it was "a seller's market for Democratic staffers."
Still, Mr. Torricelli is known as a stubborn fighter, and no one had expected him to step down, one senior Democratic staffer said.
"It would behoove the talented Democratic staffers who are considering leaving to stick around," he said, so that they can help their party try to re-elect the President.

They are, for the most part, tolerated by each campaign, although some Democratic staffers noted that Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's campaign often kept trackers out of events.
In 2012, Paul Teller was named one of Roll Call's "Fabulous 50," a list which highlights Capitol Hill's leading Democratic and Republican staffers.
