Haney called on Don McMahon to replace Spahn but may have waited a bit too long to change pitchers.

When help was needed in the bullpen, Haney brought out Don McMahon (nine saves, 1.53 ERA).

Sherry pitched a perfect top of the sixth and Don McMahon relieved Willey in the bottom of the frame.

The banks that had become the owners of the company's rigs contacted Don McMahon to take over the failed company.

The death of Don McMahon at such a relatively young age was a tragedy, yet in one way it was also a blessing.

Don McMahon died doing what he loved to do, and what much of his life had been all about, throwing a baseball.

"If it wasn't for Don McMahon," Clark said, "I wouldn't be here."

During those seasons the closer's job was held at different times by Lew Burdette, Johnson, Jolly, and Don McMahon.
