Dr. Cole said the same holds true in the competition for black professors.

Dr. Cole has found that children who play with fire fit into four categories.

Dr. Cole is more concerned about the minority of children who show different patterns.

"Our students already live in the world," Dr. Cole said.

Dr. Cole has three sons, aged 25, 21 and 16.

Dr. Cole said the city and the state could be held liable for the full amount.

Dr. Cole, who has been on sabbatical since last fall, did not return phone calls today.

Dr. Cole also rejects the vision of herself as authoritarian.

"It gave him back his life in a form that nobody could take away," Dr. Cole said.

Dr. Cole said she was never a member of the council, but wrote for the group.
