Class 378/1 (East London Line) - 20 four-car units were ordered.
Before that, Metropolitan trains had continued on to the southern termini of the East London Line.
The nearest station is Hoxton on the East London Line - a few minutes' walk away.
A few units continued on the East London Line until 1963.
This closed on 22 December 2007 for major engineering work to convert the East London Line to standard 750v third rail electrification.
These have since been reused on the East London Line.
