The parish covers an area of 20.4 km2 and according to the 2011 Ecuadorian census it had a population total of 2,271.
Muisne is a coastal town in the southwest of the province of Esmeraldas in northwestern Ecuador, with 6,199 inhabitants in the last Ecuadorian census on November 24, 2001.
A study of the Ecuadorian censuses for 1954 and 1974 estimated that production on the smaller units had grown by an average of 2.7 per cent per year during the period, but on the larger units, growth was at the rate of 1.2 per cent.
