"Over the long term, consistent earnings really do matter," said Eric Kobren, executive editor of Fidelity Insight.
That compared with 13.4 percent for Fidelity Insight.
That is because Fidelity Monitor assembled riskier portfolios than did Fidelity Insight.
"They certainly have the right," said Eric Kobren, executive editor of Fidelity Insight, a newsletter that tracks the fund company.
"It's not a matter of better or worse," said Eric Kobren, who publishes Fidelity Insight and also manages $500 million for wealthy individuals.
Fidelity Insight is ranked fifth and first for the respective periods.
