She returned to Key West 6 January and continued services for the Fleet Sonar School.
After training along the coast, she reported to Key West for further duty with the Fleet Sonar School on 7 January 1962.
In 1954 and 1955 she served briefly as school ship for Fleet Sonar School, Key West.
Parle periodically provided services to the Fleet Sonar School and type commanders.
In addition to reserve cruises, she took part in the training program of Fleet Sonar School, San Diego.
From 20 February until 30 March Brough again provided services for Fleet Sonar School.
After the Christmas leave period Brough was once again providing services of Fleet Sonar School until 5 February 1961.
In addition, the warship served periodically as a training platform for students at the Fleet Sonar School.
In addition, there were two weeks of operations out of Key West as a school ship for the Fleet Sonar School.
Other duties during that period included the provision of training services to the Submarine School and to the Fleet Sonar School.
