The Township of Livingston is located in Essex County, in the Gateway Region.

The Gateway Region is located in the northeastern part of State of New Jersey in the United States of America.

The Gateway National Recreation Area, though not located inside the Gateway Region, is nearby.

The Gateway Region was the territory of the Lenape Native Americans.

The Gateway Region is home to many points of historical interest including districts, private homes, places of worship, train stations, civic and industrial architecture, and structures of engineering significance.

Together they comprise the Gateway Region, Skylands Region, and northern Jersey Shore.
