Holmes was Governor of the Isle of Wight from 6 April 1763 until his death.
In 1857 he was appointed Governor of the Isle of Wight, which he remained until 1888.
Anthony Paulet (1562-1600) was Governor of the Isle of Jersey from 1588 until his death in 1600.
He served as Governor of the Isle of Man from 1736 to 1744.
He was also Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 1895 to 1902.
He was also Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of Man from 1952 to 1959.
