It sits on coastal hills overlooking Gulf St Vincent, within the City of Marion local government area.

It then enters Gulf St Vincent through a mangrove estuary.

It provides sweeping vistas across the Adelaide Plains and Gulf St Vincent.

The Light River continues west to Gulf St Vincent.

The final portion of the river is spring fed and flows into the Gulf St Vincent all year round.

The grounds have stunning views across Adelaide's metropolitan beaches and Gulf St Vincent.

To the west of the road is the coastal fringe of upper Gulf St Vincent, including a number of fishing and holiday villages.

It faces the Gulf St Vincent across Oyster Bay, where shellfish were originally harvested in the 19th century.

The rosinae subspecies, most commonly found in Gulf St Vincent, is considered Vulnerable.

It is bounded to the west by the Gulf St Vincent and to the north and east by artificial boundaries.
