Harold Sack, the dean of American furniture dealers, has mixed feelings about the sale in a depressed market.
The Sack gallery, Harold Sack said, was "offered nice things for astronomical prices."
"Some things will fall in price, and others will stay the same or increase," says Harold Sack.
Harold Sack, too, was always daring in his buying, paying record prices for antiques, especially after his father's death in 1959, when he began to dominate the field.
"All Phyfe satinwood furniture is rare," said Harold Sack, president of the family-owned firm.
