The Highland Railway absorbed the line into their own network on 31 July 1884.

The first two parts of the line merged to form the Highland Railway.

Ultimately the line became part of the Highland Railway on 1 February 1865.

Opened by the Highland Railway in 1899 it had a short life, the line closing to passengers in 1915.

They lasted until 1901, when the Highland Railway scrapped them.
