In 1978 or 1979, Blechman founded the commercial-animation studio The Ink Tank.
The Museum of Modern Art mounted the retrospective "R. O. Blechman and The Ink Tank: A Celebration", beginning January 17, 2003.
Between 1984 and 1990 Sedelmaier worked with R. O. Blechman at The Ink Tank in New York City.
Gradually Mr. Blechman has taken over much of the rest of the floor for his animation studio, the Ink Tank, as well as an office right next to his for his wife, Moisha, an environmental educator.

Ace & Son was founded in 2011 by Richard O'Connor after dissolving Asterisk animation which he co-founded in 2003 after several years of producing for R. O. Blechman at The Ink Tank.
