The school color of forest green is based on the abundant amount of trees along the areas of Elk Grove, Laguna Creek, and Franklin.

In the state legislature, Laguna Creek is in the 1st and 5th Senate Districts.

Y Creek flows 1.6 miles to join Laguna Creek at stream mile 1.5.

Reggiardo Creek joins Laguna Creek from the left (heading downstream) and is the largest named tributary.
