"But books that are big successes in other countries usually don't have the same impact here," said Linda Grey, Bantam's president and publisher.
With Linda Grey as publisher, Bantam moved into trade publishing as well.
"The overly big guarantee might put a lot of money in an author's and agent's pockets on a short-term basis," said Linda Grey, the president of Bantam Books.
