On 24 January 2011, Branson was awarded the German Media Prize (organised by "Media Control Charts"), previously handed to former U.S. president Bill Clinton and the Dalai Lama.

In 1992, he received the Pascall Prize for Critical Writing and Broadcasting, and in 2007 was awarded the Special Media Prize by the Australasian Association of Philosophy.

On February 13, 2005, Clinton was awarded the German Media Prize 2004.
