"It's still a nice day to go out on the mall or enjoy the fireworks," Miss Gardner said.

Inevitably, a conversation with Miss Gardner included a question with the phrase "try to remember."

"That's such a tiny little theater you can't help but see the faces" from the stage, Miss Gardner said.
