Tilehouse Combined School is in Nightingale Lane.
It was sited in a beautiful old house on Nightingale Lane which used to belong to the curator of Kew Gardens.
The station is located at the corner of Balham Hill (A24) and Nightingale Lane.
Other proposed names for the station prior to opening were "Balham North" and "Nightingale Lane".
In 1896 the Xaverian Brothers bought Broadoak, a property in Nightingale Lane.
In 1924 a preparatory department was opened in Hollywood, the next-door mansion in Nightingale Lane.
Nightingale Lane (near Clapham South)
An English Heritage blue plaque, unveiled in 1997, commemorates Bateman at 40 Nightingale Lane in Clapham.
However, there being no block, not even in Nightingale Lane, he reached the entrance of the wharf, and set down his passenger without annoyance.
It faces Richmond Hill and features a garden wall that borders Nightingale Lane, with a coach house in the garden.
