Norris Lake dominates the area to the south.

The water gap between Lone Mountain and Big Ridge became a narrow inlet with the creation of Norris Lake.

While private boats are not allowed on Big Ridge Lake, the park maintains a boat launch along Norris Lake in the western section of the park.
