After leaving Richmond School, he gained a degree in sports studies at Newcastle Polytechnic.

Bowman was educated at Richmond School under the famous headmaster James Tate.

Having attended two private schools, in May 1779, Tate entered Richmond School.

Richmond School was the first school in Richmondshire.

Tate was even more successful; Richmond School become a nationally known school for classical learning.

In 1971 all three schools merged to create a Comprehensive School named Richmond School.

He pursued a degree at the University of Richmond School of Law, graduating in 1997.

In 2003, he was named dean of the University of Richmond School of Law.

Pupils would then receive secondary education at Richmond School & Sixth Form College.

He received his law degree from University of Richmond School of Law.
