The group reorganized to align itself with the structure of the 2d Space Wing in 1985.

It was inactivated on 30 January 1992 when the 50th Space Wing took its place.

On 1 October 1997, it was redesignated as the 91st Space Wing.

Command officials activated the 310th Space Wing on 7 March 2008.

Other members of the 50th Space Wing are working just as hard, out of sight, to protect the various fleets.

In April 1983, the 46th was inactivated and replaced by the 1st Space Wing.

The mission of the unit today is performed by the 45th Space Wing (no direct lineage).

Until 1 July 2008, it was designated as the 341st Space Wing.

It was inactivated on 15 May 1992 along with the 1st Space Wing.

The 21st Space Wing, a unit with a more historic lineage, took their place.
