After this he dropped out of the league to play for Taunton Town.

Afterwards, he played local semi-pro football for Taunton Town.

Paul moved to Taunton Town in November 1930 but a serious knee injury ended his football career soon afterwards.

He played for Torquay's reserve side against Taunton Town, but was not signed.

In 1986 he was appointed manager of Taunton Town, taking them to the Western League title in 1989-90.
