Pauly served as president of the Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association, now known as the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, from 1985 to 1987.

It has recently changed its name to The World Professional Association for Transgender Health, but still reveres its links to Harry Benjamin.
