William Ball (or Balle, c. 1631-1690) was an English astronomer.

He named the estate he built "Hope Farm," and in 1729 sold this estate to William Ball.

Currently the area's main employer is Precision Products, a company that was started in 1947 by William (Bilbo) Ball.
