A new chart is compiled and officially released to the public by Billboard on Thursday.
The chart is released weekly and measures sales of physical commercial singles.
But the album's opening reception in the United States has yet to be seen: those charts will be released later this week.
The charts are released each Thursday.
As of 2012 very few songs are given a physical release, and almost the entire chart is released solely on digital download.
Another chart hit from the album was No Sleep till Brooklyn, released in 1987.
The song is expected to top the Hot 100 for the sixth straight week when the chart is released later today.
The Adult Top 40 chart was released in 1996.
"Somebody Said a Prayer" was released as the album's lead-off single, and was a top 40 hit on the country charts in late 2008.
Eventually, the chart covered this and was released weekly and monthly like all the other charts.
