Gish completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of California, Berkeley in 1988.

He completed his Doctor of Philosophy from Harvard University.

He then went on to complete his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the same university.

After completing his Doctor of Philosophy he became an Assistant Professor of Economics from 1953 to 1956.

In 1965, he completed his Doctor of Science in chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He went on to complete his Doctor of Philosophy (1953) at the University of Edinburgh.

He completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree at the University of California, Davis.

He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 2003.
