In April 1965, she began her first strategic deterrent patrol.

She completed her first strategic deterrent patrol on 25 July 1984.

By the end of 1966, she had completed her 10th deterrent patrol, serving in the European area.

During the next two years she completed nine more deterrent patrols.

In October 1967, she began her first strategic deterrent patrol.

By the end of 1972, she had resumed deterrent patrols.

During 1968, she completed her 12th through 14th deterrent patrols.

She conducted her 32nd and 33rd deterrent patrols in the early part of 1976.

She finished her 66th and final strategic deterrent patrol in August 1991.

She departed for her first deterrent patrol in June 1964.
