Gasoline futures rose 1.6 percent to close at a record $1.5075 a gallon.
Gasoline futures that day rose 41.39 cents a gallon, or 20 percent, to $2.475.
Gasoline futures fell, too, but are still about 6 percent higher than before the storm made landfall.
And gasoline futures dropped 4.65 cents, to $2.0157 a gallon.
Gasoline futures dropped for a fifth session, to $1.91 a gallon, down more than 5 percent.
Gasoline futures rose 5 percent, to $1.542 a gallon on the Nymex.
Crude's fall also brought unleaded gasoline futures down to August levels.
Gasoline futures for October delivery closed at $2.409 a gallon, up 15.37 cents.
Still, heating oil and unleaded gasoline futures each gave up half the gain they made yesterday.
Gasoline futures in New York trading have also dropped 1 percent, to $1.53 a gallon.
