Sand the surface with fine grit paper (No. 220), then dust and apply shellac-based primer such as Enamelac or BIN.
When this happens, the odor can be restored by sanding the entire surface with a medium-fine grit abrasive paper such as No. 100 or No. 120.
Sand the head smooth with 120 and then 180 grit paper.
Sand all surfaces with 100 grit paper.
Sand the plastic lightly with fine grit paper (No. 100 or 120), then remove all sanding dust and wipe down with a rag moistened in paint thinner.
Allow to dry, then sand lightly with fine grit paper (No. 80 or 100).
Sand with fine grit paper, dust thoroughly and apply fresh varnish.
The areas which cannot be reached by the large sanders are sanded by an edger, at the same grit paper as the rest of the floor.
The grit paper used is of personal preference, however 100-150 grit papers are usually used.
Make a final cut with fine grit paper, then use the woodscraper and sanding block to clean up tight corners and areas under radiators.
