In 1601 he was elected knight of the shire for Suffolk.
In 1597 he was elected knight of the shire for Rutland.
He was elected a knight of the shire for Worcestershire in 1584, 1586 and 1597.
Between 1547 to 1559 he was four times elected knight of the shire for Surrey.
He was appointed knight of the shire for Hertfordshire in 1449.
In 1601 he entered parliament as knight of the shire for Somerset.
