Beginning in October, libraries and schools across the state will sponsor discussion groups and other events related to the book.
Then on Feb. 19 at 3 P.M., the library will sponsor a musical celebration of the month, in which local black groups will perform.
The library sponsors the popular Voices lecture series with over a dozen speakers on topics from the arts, politics, and contemporary issues in the community.
The library will also sponsor a lecture on Jan. 29 that will explain how patrons can research companies and industries using the library's financial services.
The library features a monthly Book Club and sponsors the Magee Park Poets.
Later this year, the library will sponsor lectures and a reception for local authors, among a number of other special events.
The village's 45,000-volume public library often sponsors special programs, such as a recent lecture on understanding Islam.

During summer months, the library sometimes sponsors film festivals in which award-winning foreign films are shown.
The library sponsors a literary magazine, "So It Goes," which debuted in December 2012.
