If no location preference is expressed the page will resolve via geo-IP to the relevant nation edition, with the largest city set as default location.
The new homepage does allow you to view local news and weather information by changing your location preference, and the category filters underneath the carousel mean that you can choose to view content just about entertainment, or news & sport, etc.
Initially this will only affect the weather forecast but in coming weeks you will notice more content on the page such as local news, radio and TV regions will also be based on your location preference.
We will only fall back to using GeoIP if a user has not set a location preference and then we will try to ensure that users in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland receive the appropriate national edition of the homepage for their location during that visit.
