In the 111 flying days made possible by the weather, 358 pilots engaged the enemy in 166 air combat battles with the loss of 30 pilots.
However the loss of 16 pilots was a serious blow to the unit.
Both "Sioux" squadrons (9 and 11) combined executed 54 combat missions, for a loss of three pilots and 11 aircraft.
During its operational existence the unit flew about 6,150 sorties, with the loss of six pilots.
The fight lasted for two hours, and four B-17s and five B-24s were claimed shot down for the loss of two pilots and three aircraft.

During the Korean conflict the squadron flew a grand total of 12 067 sorties for a loss of 34 pilots and two other ranks.
The first production Demons were grounded for a redesign after the loss of six aircraft and four pilots.
